BSA Troop # 380

16 FEB is the LAST MEETING before CAMPOUT 20-21-22 Feb at Kissimmee State Park. POC Mr Tim D.

SPL:

Do we need CLASS A “Field Uniform with Neckerchief“ for this event?

(Decision by SPL and Acting SM Mr Bill A.)

1-2 extra / older Class B “work / Camp shirts”.

TRAVEL and HIKE - Ideally something High visibility T-Shirt / Day pack / Hat etc.

(OK visible sleeve or over another long sleeve shirt etc.

LAYERS

Wicking “base” layer (synthetic and or Merino wool or both)

Thermal / air trapping / Fluffy layers (1-2-3 shirts / sweatshirts / sweaters etc). Remove 1-2-3 layers to stay “slightly cool” and avoid toasty warm  ie “Wet with sweat”.  Same precaution in Sleeping bag - keep dry and have 1-2 layers at your toes in case temp drops overnight.

Outer Shell   (wind and rain layer) optional in tent or if sheltered.

For HIKE Poncho / Back pack cover / rain pants -becomes important if “cool” “cold” rain possible and shelter not readily available.

Scout Sunday - Scouts liked quite good in WHITE GLOVES for Door Guards welcoming Parishioners.

OTHER STUFF…

LAST PLANNING for KISSIMMEE State Park CAMP and Shake down BACKPACK Hike (Week 3 of 3 for planning purposes).

 - Hiking Boots need to be “broken in” before Hike /  Backpacking

 - HOT SPOTS - must be addressed at once!

Day Camp gear - EXCELLENT overview and review by SPL  last week)

SM request for ongoing PLC topic:

Patrol member updates - written updated list for all Patrol members.

Each Scout needs a Leadership assignment from the PL / SPL that they can learn from that also benefits the Patrol / Troop and the individual Scout.

SPL and PLC decided on a minimum of 2-3 of the more experienced Scouts in BOTH Patrols.

Let the SPL know if Patrol membership changes need to be considered or if you wish to switch Patrols.

We need shake down HIKES! - Mr Tim D. and Mr Bill have confirmed at least TWO  VERY COOL SITES  in the Kissimmee State Park. LOOP trails!

Talk to SPL - PLC if you are interested in more than one event this month /any future month (Coordinate with Mr Bill) — OK SAME SITE / DATE and or DIFFERENT SITES / DATES.

Monthly CAMPOUTS:
ALTERNATE and ADDITIONAL Troop or Patrol Event “options needed” to SPL / PLC / Mr. Bill  - consider 2 each month if enough support.  We lost camping the month that Cub Camping was cancelled - it would have been nice to have an automatic “Plan B - with POC etc.“

OK informal / Ad Hoc Patrols — BASIC Skills PLUS ADVANCED Skill can be the same weekend or different weekend.

(SPL / PLC are actively interested in “Higher skill” and “Early skill level” events.  - please give suggestions to PL / SPL / ASPL.)
